Space Explorers – 1951

 The crossing of space … may do much to turn men’s minds outwards and away from their present tribal squabbles. In this sense, the rocket, far from being one of the destroyers of civilisation, may provide the safety-valve that is needed to preserve it.

1951 was a very good year for future astronauts & cosmonauts.
All of the following were born in 1951 and went on to become space explorers : –
Thomas Akers, Aleksandr Aleksandrov, Charles E. Brady, Muhammed Faris, Sidney M. Gutierrez, Steven Hawley, Marsha Ivins, Leonid Kadeniuk, Aleksandr Laveykin, Frederick W. Leslie, William S. McArthur, Musa Manarov, Barbara Morgan, Talgat Musabayev, Stephen S. Oswald, Ronald A. Parise, John L. Phillips, Kenneth S. Reightler, Sally Ride, Hans Schlegal, Kathryn D. Sullivan and Andy Thomas.
