Charles Dickens ( 1812 – 2012 )

Today marks the 200th Anniversary of the birth of the great Victorian novelist Charles Dickens. ( 7th February 1812 – 9th June 1870 )

SCROOGE (1951) film

Scrooge, released as A Christmas Carol  in the United States, is a 1951 film adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. It starred Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Charles Dickens’s father, John Dickens, died 100 years earlier in 1851.
Also in 1851 Charles Dickens performed before Queen Victoria.
