Barbara Ann Cochran

Sapporo_finish_001_1A warm 1951 Club welcome to alpine ski racer and Olympic Gold Medalist Barbara Ann Cochran.Born in 1951, Barbara Ann is a member of the famous Skiing Cochrans family. She was in the U.S. Ski Team frrom 1967 until 1974  winning a gold medal in slalom  at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan, and a silver in slalom at the 1970 World Championships and was the U.S. national champion in giant slalom and slalom.

She retired from international competition following the 1974 season. In 1976, Barbara was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. Barbera Ann has worked as a teacher, a ski coach and instructor at Cochran’s Ski Area and is in much demand as a motivational speaker as well as running her own business Sports Success Coaching.

Barbara and her son Ryan Cochran-Siegle who recently won gold medals in downhill and combined at the Alpine Jr. Championships in Italy in March 2012.
