Tales of Tomorrow was an American anthology science-fiction series performed and broadcast live on ABC from 1951-1953. It featured both classic and modern sci-fi themes and was the first dramatized showcase for several authors, including Arthur C. Clarke.
The series covered such stories as Frankenstein, starring Lon Chaney Jr., 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea starring Thomas Mitchell as Captain Nemo and many others featuring such performers as Boris Karloff, Veronica Lake, Rod Steiger, Eva Gabor, Leslie Nielsen and Paul Newman.
This pioneering series had many similarities to the later Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. It ran for a total of 85, thirty minute episodes. The special effects, props and scenery are minimal and this gives the series a charm all its own.
