The 1951 Rolling Review Show … # 78

Welcome to the 1951 Rolling Review Show which twice weekly features pieces of music I have enjoyed at some time in my life. I hope you enjoy them as well. Let me know if you do.

“Back Street Luv” – Curved Air

“Back Street Luv” is a song by British rock band Curved Air, written by band members Ian Eyre, Sonja Kristina and Darryl Way. It was released as a single in July 1971 by Warner Bros. Records. On September 18th “Back Street Luv” reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart, its highest position. I remember seeing them very up close and live at a student gig in Hounslow in November 1971.

  1. New to me – I don’t think it can have made it onto the NZ charts. But very evocative in sound and style.

  2. Don’t remember this one – did it do well in the US?

  3. I don’t think I ever heard this song before but I like it a lot. Sounds typically 70’s to me!
