The 1951 Rolling Review Show … # 113
Welcome to the 1951 Rolling Review Show which twice weekly features pieces of music I have enjoyed at some time in my life. I hope you enjoy them as well. Let me know if you do.
“Downtown” – Petula Clark (1964)
“Downtown” is a song composed by Tony Hatch and recorded by singer Petula Clark in 1964. It became an international hit, reaching No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart.
A classic Pet Clarke song! She did so many in the same era (which I have in my “library”! 🙂
She certainly was a chanteuse back then.
She even featured in a comic strip in my sisters “girl” comic (possibly “School Friend”)!
She’s now 84 and still touring. 😀🎶
Amazing… and probably still looks good! 🙂 Saw a Vicky Leandros video sometime ago and she also carries her age extremely well!
😁
A classic song from a classy gal! I loved this song – know all the words. Thank you, PETula. Why do they pronounce it PetULa?
Now don’t get me started. 😀
I am now picturing a hairy tarantula in my mind.
Yes, Petula the tarantula. Help.
:):) but you have to say it with a British accent!
True said. 😉🍻
