The 1951 Rolling Review Show … # 160

Welcome to the 1951 Rolling Review Show which features pieces of music I have enjoyed at some time in my life. I hope you enjoy them as well. Let me know if you do. Sometimes I feel that each song here is a little personal voyage for me on a vast and beautiful ocean of musical memories. Thank you so much for joining me. I really appreciate your company.

“The Sound of Silence” – Disturbed

The Sound of Silence” is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. The song was written by Paul Simon over a period of several months in 1963 and 1964. It was recorded in March 1964 at Columbia Studios in New York City for inclusion on their debut album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M..

A cover version was released by American heavy metal band Disturbed in 2015. Apparently Paul Simon was well impressed.

  1. I hate to say it but I love Disturbed’s version best!

    • Their version is brilliant, I agree. Having said that, I suppose that it couldn’t exist without the original. Glad to admit I love them both.
      Have a great year ahead.

  2. Much as I have always loved S & G’s recording, I do prefer Paul Simon’s solo recording of it on his album “Paul Simon Songbook”, which is I how believe he intended it to be presented.

  3. Reblogged this on Noddfacrafts and commented:
    Stunning!

  4. Oh, way good. This is enlightening.
