Good Evening Mr Bond …

This is a picture of the author Ian Fleming (1908-1964) best known of course as the creator of the James Bond series of spy novels.
Fleming wrote his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, in 1952. Fleming’s life is well documented and there are  two 1951 connections … during this year Fleming purchased a house called White Cliffs  in Kent from his friend, playwright and actor Noel Coward.
He also lost his commission in the Royal Navy Reserve in 1951.

Dan Fogelberg … (1951 – 2007)

This post is respectfully dedicated to the late great American singer-songwriter Mr Dan Fogelberg. Today marks what would have been his 60th birthday. Thank you for the music Dan.

(August 13, 1951 ~ December 16, 2007)

Dan Fogelberg was an American singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist who received numerous awards and accolades for his beautiful music.

I wrote to Dan’s wife Jean a while back and asked if I could include him as a member of the 1951 Club. She was very supportive but said that unfortunately she wouldn’t be able to put his name to anything that he hadn’t previously expressed an interest in. So Dan isn’t an actual member but it wouldn’t be fair not to give him a mention.
