On 23 December 1951, the Catholic clergy at Dijon organised an execution of Santa Claus. An image of him was hanged from the railings of the cathedral and then burned in front of several hundred Sunday School children. Father Christmas stood accused of paganizing Chrstmas and was found guilty.

Fear not. Santa Claus and the Spirit of Christmas are alive and well. Happy Christmas everyone.

Margaret Mountford was born on 24th November 1951. She is a British lawyer, businesswoman and television personality best known for her role in The Apprentice as one of Lord Sugar’s advisers. 

She left in 2009 to continue her PhD in papyrology at University College, London, studying documents found in Egypt and written in ancient Greek. She sits on many boards and is chair of governors at a London school.

 Donald Findlay QC was born on 17 March 1951. He is an advocate and Queen’s Counsel in Scotland and has served as a defence lawyer in many high-profile murder cases.

He is well known for a distinctive style of dress and manner, particularly the smoking of a pipe, as well as his staunch support for Unionism in Scotland and the Scottish Conservatives.

Way back in 2010 the 1951 Club was  proud to welcome two very special new members into its ranks.

They were both born in 1951.

They both died, aged 60, in 2011 within just a few weeks of each other.
