La Vie en rose – Edith Piaf

This song was written by Edith Piaf in 1945. It is a song of love and hope. Here she is during a live performance in 1954. It is respectfully dedicated to all those caught up in the recent dreadful atrocity in Nice.

Hold me close and hold me fast
This magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose.

When you press me to your heart
I’m in a world apart
A world where roses bloom

And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be la vie en rose.

A player of RC Strasbourg (1973-1984), he was a member of the French team in the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
